It’s almost impossible to compare the mesmerizing creations of Alessandra Divella to anything existing in this current ether of space and time, but grower Champagne by way of northern Italy will suffice for now. With less than a decade of winemaking experience, she is proving to be a force to be reckoned with in an area that has historically fallen victim to the perils of industrial farming. Being one of the first estates to farm organically in Franciacorta (and the first to be femme-led), she is setting precedent for generations of winemakers to come. Her wines are crystalline in their purity; zero-sulfur, zero-dosage. the texture shimmers on your palate and the acidity is razor-sharp in its precision. This chardonnay is full and lush on the palate, thanks in no small part to spending 33 months on its lees. Like walking past an opened window of an Italian bakery - toasted, warming, a hug from your nona as she sneaks you pignoli. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
