Domaine Arnaud Lambert brought together, beginning in 2017, the Lambert family holdings formerly known as the Domaine de Saint-Just and the vineyards of the Château de Brézé. In taking over from his father, Yves, Arnaud completed the transition to organic farming practices. His wines have brought international attention back to the part of the Saumur appellation known as Brézé. Chenin blanc grown in the Saumur area is known for its bright, citrus flavors and pronounced minerality, and Brézé is no exception. Arnaud’s Clos de Midi comes from a single lieu-dit of the same name, located in one of the colder areas of the Brézé hill. Sand and clay topsoil mix with the sandy limestone (tuffeau) characteristic of the region. Pressed whole cluster, this wine ferments naturally and ages in stainless steel (90%) and old French oak barrels (10%). Only lightly filtered, it receives a minimal addition of SO2 just before bottling. Subtle, complex, and long, this impressive Loire chenin opens with white flowers and sandalwood, with orchard fruit on the palate and a zippy sea-salt finish. Certified organic.
