We Got the Beat

The chill in the air this week had us feeling like curling up under a blanket with our favorite vinyl spinning in the background. And we don't think we were necessarily alone in that. For so many, music can be seen as a source of comfort and solace, a salve to a trying day. Ever wonder what that's all about? According to the abstract of a study conducted by Bo Li at Kingston University in the UK, "extensive research has determined that music possesses the ability to evoke affective responses within human beings by systematically triggering the parts of the human brain that are controlled and regulated by dopamine." In short, listening to music has the ability to evoke feelings and emotional responses pertaining to happiness. And anthropological evidence of the music traditions of past peoples showcases that this sentiment was intuitively understand by ancient societies. One has to wonder - are we the only living beings that benefit from groovin out? Well, research shows plants are willing and enthusiastic dance partners. Plants are known to respond to stimuli, and music totally qualifies as one, with scientists noting that music promoted the growth and development of the listening plants. There are even possibilities of musical frequencies facilitating better absorption of nutrients, photosynthesis, protein synthesis, and more! Inspired by our deep dive into scholastic articles, we went shopping through the shelves for bottles that express some sort of musical proclivity.

Let's boogie.
