Comfort in the Familiar

January can be a fickle friend. There seems to be a tension that arises between a renewed commitment to proactive action and an instinctive internal call to rest. Winter does call to mind a desire for hibernation; grapevines go dormant during this time to conserve energy and prepare for the imminent season of growth - perhaps guided by Mother Nature's gentle hand. And yet everywhere we turn is a call to action - renew the gym membership, join the book club, vision board for the year, set your goals, manifest, manifest, manifest. It's almost as if we are moving too slow and too fast all at once. If we instead consider this as a time of great transition, and hold space for the discomfort and challenges that arises with change, maybe we could simultaneously hold space for the humble advice of our plant guides: sloooooooooooooooow down, rest, conserve, prepare for growth and warmer days. As the days get longer, let us offer friendship to the quietude of now. So we've been dreaming of soft comfort. Of blankets. Of warm meals shared with friends. Of our favorite movie and a bag of chips and that one spot on the couch that is uniquely and singularly home. Today, we're pairing our favorite chips with their matching (fermented) grape juice. There's comfort in community - join us for a chip and a sip and a "how are you doing?"

Our Pairing Guide: NV Domaines Landron 'Atmospheres' La Haie-Fouassiere Extra Brut- the perfect lime-zest garnish to your classic crinkle cut. The 2023 Il Poggio Gavi DOCG 'Nuvole sul Poggio' - for the chip that needs a little extra Maldon sea-salt. Last up, the 2022 Famille De Boel France 'Le gras c'est la vie!' Mediterranee IGP for a little heartiness and game.

Taste with us: Friday, 1.24.25 from 4-7pm
