Springing Ahead
With the unfurling of spring - the budding of the trees, the returning of lush greenery, the sun no longer hiding behind the clouds - we can't help but feel a slight pep in our step. A subtle giddiness, if you will. The days of early spring are full of the potential of what might be, the planting of seeds to be sown in the future.
How exciting and hopeful!
This week, we did our best to harness that excitable energy into our selections and decided to pour some brand new wines that we are absolutely hyped on. All hail from cool climates, and strike a beautiful balance of acid and alcohol, finesse and power. We think these wines will see us well through the season, providing a slight weighted blanket on those days where it barely breaks 50 degrees and hi-tone energy for the days when the sun is out in full force. Versatility is a beautiful thing. Now onto the lineup!
Wine One: the 2021 Domaine L&R Kox Riesling from Luxembourg. It's a delightfully dry riesling that is generous on the palate and party-friendly in its 1-liter format.
Wine Two: the 2021 Josef Totter 'Severin' Souvignier Gris from Austria. Made from a PiWi grape (exciting new hybrids), it is wildly unique and unexpected.
Wine Three: the 2023 Claus Preisinger 'Puszta Libre!' from Austria. Looking for your chilled red of the season? Look no further.
Wine Four: the 2020 GraWü Pinot Nero from Italy. Elegant, ethereal, effortless. It's alpine Burgundy, there we said it.
