Celebrate Indigenous Grapes Day!

With the Indigenous Peoples Day holiday earlier this week, it's perfect timing to celebrate some indigenous grapes.

Unlike universal varieties (think pinot noir, sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay etc.) which have been planted outside of their native lands for centuries, indigenous grapes are either unique to certain regions of the world or grow best on their home turf.

They're often not as well recognized - in part because they number in the thousands (Italy and Georgia each boast over 500 different varietals of indigenous grapes!), but they're certainly no less delicious than their globally renowned counterparts!

Today we're sipping wines from Spain, Hungary, and France, each made with a native grape varietal - or several - for a delicious 'Grape Meet and Greet'! You might just end up meeting your new favorite bottle!
