Azienda Agricola Borgo Savaian di Bastiani Stefano has been family owned and operated for three generations in Cormons, a small region in Friuli that lies a mere 12 kilometers from the Slovenian border. The youngest generation was inspired to take over the vineyard from their parents at the young age of 14, after enjoying a bottle of classic Friulano in the family vineyard. The estate covers 18 hectares alongside Mount Quarin, and the family focuses on sustainable farming of indigenous varieties and is committed to a natural lifestyle of the vineyards that is in harmony with their surroundings. “Aransat'' is Friulian slang for “orange.” The pinot grigio and sauvignon blanc for this orange wine spontaneously ferment on their skins in stainless steel tanks, with post-fermentation maceration on the skins lasting for around 90 days before bottling without fining or filtration. This offering is a fantastic introduction to orange wines! It has just the right amount of tannin, with flavors of apricot, citrus, and a subtle note of hazelnut, and is amazingly crisp and refreshing. Sustainably grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
