Cappelletti Amaro 'Alta Verde'

Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti, or Cappelletti for short, was established in 1909 and achieved fame producing several different Amari and aperitivi. All of their production is done in-house by the fourth generation of the family, Luigi and Maddalena Cappelletti. They are located in Aldeno, 20km south of Trento in northern Italy, and all of their products focus on traditional roots, herbs, and flowers. The main ingredient in this Alta Verde is assenzio, a variety of wormwood. It is blended with alpine herbs, citrus, and spice, meant to evoke “a summer forest in all its verdant splendor”. It has impressive length and complex bitterness with a gentle sweetness and bright herbal notes coming together in a well-balanced amaro. Best enjoyed with citrus and tonic, soda, or just alone over ice with a squeeze of lemon. In cocktails, it adds depth and a drying effect to balance sweeter drinks.
