Château Grand Corbin-Despagne St-Emilion AOC 2008

Owners of Grand Corbin-Despagne in Saint-Émilion for over 2 centuries, seven generations of the Despagne family have shared the same love for a vineyard and its traditions. François Despagne owns the estate today, embracing a deep respect for the vineyard’s natural environment. Describing himself as a modern traditionalist, this ambassador of terroir nevertheless keeps a constant eye on modern solutions to enhance and perfect his wines. It was his ancestor, Louis Despagne (whose family were smallholders at Cheval Blanc), who purchased the first family parcels in 1812 at a place named Grand Corbin, just a few acres away from that prestigious Saint-Émilion First Growth. The vineyards are certified organic and composed of blue clay, brown clay, and sand. This is a Bordeaux for Napa drinkers looking for some restraint, with plush fruit, notes of coffee and unsweetened chocolate, and elegant tannins. Certified organic.
