Christian Venier is located in the eastern Touraine, in Cheverny where he refined his natural winemaking skills working with his cousin Thierry & Jean-Marie Puzelat of Clos du Tue Boeuf. After spending seasons assisting with harvests, he produced his first vintage in the mid 90s. He kept to his philosophy of making wine naturally, remaining a farmer akin to his ancestors by organically farming his approximately 6 hectares of vineyards. This wine is 70% pinot noir and 30% gamay, hand-harvested from Christian’s higher vineyard called ‘Les Hauts de Madon’, fermented whole-cluster using natural yeast in a cement and resin tank. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration and are bottled unfiltered with no sulfur added. It is light and vibrant with notes of kirsch, strawberry, and spice, while remaining complex and lively on the palate with a delicate minerality. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
