Chihuatán was established in 2004 as a pioneer in El Salvadorean rum making, and each of their rums is inspired by a different spirit or god. ‘Indigo’ is their homage to Tlaloc, the Mayan god of rain, who is linked to the indigo flower and the color blue. This award-winning entry-level rum was made using a 100 year old sugar cane mill, and after fermentation, is aged for 8 years in used American bourbon barrels under the passionate guidance of Master Blender Gabriela Ayala. 80 proof, it offers up complex layers of tropical fruits, vanilla, spice, dark chocolate, and cream. Smooth and elegant, it is a wonderful choice for sipping neat, on the rocks, or as the backbone of any classic rum-based cocktail.
