Twin brothers Guillaume and Baptiste Frey developed a love affair with winemaking during the pandemic, spending the time studying with respected vigneron Vincent Carême. They took the plunge and purchased 12 hectares of their own vineyards in Vernou-Sur-Brenne, in a area surrounded by neighboring natural winemakers. ‘Les Pleurs’ is named for the ‘tears’ that appear on the vines at the end of winter and beginning of spring, and celebrates the first sign of transition into a new cycle of life. The cuvée is a collection of chenin blanc from the different terroirs on the domain, with an average vine age of 30 years. Fruit is direct pressed in stainless steel and aged 6 months in tank. In the glass, this unfurls generous layers of succulent white peach and Anjou pear, with delicate floral flourishes all over an elegant stony core. Certified organic, biodynamically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
