If you picked up that the name of this wine matches that of a film by Bertrand Blier, you get ten bonus points. Winemaker Xavier Courant is a big Blier fan: each of his wines takes its name from one of Blier’s films. In this case, Xavier has made a complex wine to commemorate a complicated movie. This is a dark, full-bodied, somewhat wild and burly expression of cabernet franc from the classic Loire village of Bourgueil. Destemmed grapes fermented and aged in concrete vats. The wine is not fined or filtered and sees only a minimal addition of sulfur at bottling. Blue and black fruit, with woody herbs, forest, and barnyard, make this a serious cabernet franc that would stand up well to your holiday lamb roast. Biodynamically grown.
