‘El Enemigo’ translates as “the enemy” - but the enemy referred to here is the enemy within. These internal battles are what define an individual’s character, and the wines of El Enemigo are meant as an homage to that lifelong struggle. This joint collaboration between Adrianna Catena (daughter of Nicolas Catena) and Alejandro Vigil (head winemaker at Bodega Catena Zapata), ‘El Enemigo’ malbec is made at Piedemonte al Sur, nestled in the southern foothills of the Uco Valley, Mendoza’s famed high altitude wine region at the base of the Andes Mountains. 90% malbec with 10% cabernet franc, this is a rich, velvety sipper, with concentrated layers of purple and black fruit including blackberry, boysenberry, and black cherry, accompanied by dashes of spice. Full bodied all the way to a long, luscious finish, with well integrated tannins. Low-intervention/natural wine.
