Fattoria di Rodáno is a classic producer of complex yet approachable Chianti. The estate has been a wine producing property belonging to the Pozzesi family since the 16th century. Vittorio Pozzesi had been in charge of the estate since they first began to bottle their own wine in 1967, but now his son, Enrico, manages the winery. The heart and soul of their vineyard holdings is the beautifully situated vineyard of Viacosta, which is a perfect, south-facing bowl of old vines averaging between 35 and 45 years of age. Now certified organic, the estate has grown substantially since its beginnings, but still maintains traditional winemaking practices, including hand-harvesting, fermenting using only natural or wild yeasts, and aging their wine in large Slavonian casks, or “botti.” Rodáno's wines are traditional in style, with sangiovese playing a dominant role in all of the estate’s bottlings. This vintage exhibits classically bright sangiovese notes of red cherry and earth while remaining warm and smooth across the palate. Certified organic.
