Create an accountYears ago forager and herbalist Fred Cremasco found a recipe book from the late 1800s, which contained dozens of recipes for vermouth, amaros, bitters and other kinds of natural, medicinal concoctions. A Friuli native, he was inspired to set out to recreate these recipes of old. To do so, Cremasco grows all kinds of botanicals, and sources wild ones from a local national preserve, which the government allows him to do on a special basis. These botanicals are as pure as can be. His ‘Bitter 34’ liqueur includes 34 botanicals, including angelica, masterwort, thyme, Achillea moschata, Gentiana lutea, hyssop, two different types of artemisia, four types of citrus, and cinchona. All are infused separately, using both hot and cold extraction techniques, then blended and bottled. The color comes from orange blossom (as with all of Fred’s spirits, there is no added color.) At 12% sugar, less than half that of larger brands, it is delicately sweet on the finish, with flavors of chamomile, citrus, thyme, vanilla, and almond. It elegantly balances mild bitterness with sweet, citrus, and herbal tones. Perfect for sipping as a spritz, or use in place of Campari to take your Negroni to the next level. Sustainably made.
