The Huber family maintains vineyards in the communities of Neustift am Walde, Nussberg, and Grinzing, all of which lie within the 19th district of Vienna. Between the city and the woods (Wienerwald), the setting benefits from the cooling influence of the nearby forest, from the stony loam soil indicative of the Neustift area, as well as from the proximity to a metropolis with a long tradition of Heurigen: that is, drinking young wines in the countryside alongside a hearty picnic. In addition to growing at least a half-dozen different traditionally Austrian grape varieties, the family also runs a popular Buschenschank, or rustic tavern. This gemischter Satz, or “mixed bag” of white wine varieties, combines the floral aromatics, spice, and delicious fruit flavors that have delighted generations of Heurigen devotees. Slightly smoky on the nose, with golden apple on the palate: truly a Viennese classic. Sustainably grown.
