The story of GraWü is incredibly wholesome and romantic. Partners Leila GRAselli and Dominic WÜrth smushed their surnames together and established a winery in Alto Adige in 2013 after making wine in Bordeaux, Montalcino, and Marche. It seemed the perfect place for an Italian and German to raise their family, ensuring their kids would speak both of their native tongues. And so GraWü was born. They farm themselves a few hectares and source the rest of their grapes from growers they work shoulder to shoulder with in the vineyards. All farmers follow organic practices and are greatly committed to establishing and maintaining biodiversity. This pinot nero is pure and whimsical - like staring through a reflection pool on a perfectly bright, clear day. Elegant and effortless, it confidently whispers, “Burgundy, who?” Hailing from granite and limestone soils, it is spontaneously fermented on the skins for 2-3 weeks with whole grapes and stems. It then matures for 20 months in large used Slavonian and tonneaux oak barrels. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine, vegan.
