Hager Matthias Riesling Terrassen Kamptal DAC 2022

Located in the small town of Mollands in the northern part of the Kamptal, Hager Matthias is a man of experience. Having studied at the school of Oenology & Viticulture in Krems, Austria, he worked for several years at large commercial wineries in Wachau and Burgenland. With the sort of bold confidence that only seems to exist at 21 years of age, he began creating his own style of terroir-driven wines utilizing native varietals from his hometown of Mollands. Certified biodynamic since 2005, his “blue line” (peep the blue screw-top) is inspired by the elements water and air, saying that the wines hailing from this line “are just as lively, light and refreshing as these elements.” This riesling from 25-year-old vines is typical Kamptal - ripping with acidity and generous in its offering of white lily, stone fruit and fresh minerality. Crushed white Smarties and ripe honeydew melon linger on the finish. Perfect sashimi wine. Certified biodynamic, organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
