A young couple sets up a winery and starts making delicious wines from biodynamically grown grapes in an idyllic corner of France…. Not an uncommon story, though with the twist that neither Nelly France (from Brittany) nor her husband, Arnaud De Boel (from Belgium), inherited any vineyards. They have nevertheless managed, in just a few short years, to amass a small collection of well-situated old vines in spots up and down the Rhône. This rosé bears Nelly’s name alone and is dedicated to the mères (mothers) among us: the name of the cuvée, ‘Le meilleur de nous’, means “the best of us.” Made mostly of caladoc—a grape rare to find as a red, and even less commonly made into rosé—and a bit of carignan, it bursts with peach fruit and exciting acidity, with an echo of red berries. Certified biodynamic, low-intervention/natural wine.
