Natalie Siddique and Ryan Pace make focused, location-specific wines from the Central Coast of California. They began with syrah but have subsequently branched out to a variety of California-loving varietals. Each of their wines is made from a single variety, from a single vineyard. This cabernet sauvignon comes from the Massa Vineyard: first planted by the Durney family in 1968 and farmed organically since then, the vineyard sits up in a remote part of the Carmel Valley. Natalie and Ryan’s wine comes from that original 1968 block. After de-stemming, it ferments with indigenous yeasts, on the skins, for 30 days before aging in neutral (not new) French oak for ten months. The finished wine is bottled without fining or filtration. Dark berries and plum notes really pop out without that new-oak cloak, complemented by the complexity of cedar and leather. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine.
