Paolo Bea is one of the most recognized and respected producers in Italy. The Bea family can be traced back to the 1500’s, with roots in farming and winemaking in Montefalco. Committed to low intervention and natural winemaking, Paolo and his son, Giampiero, craft exquisite wines that capture the essence of the terroir they hail from. Sourced from the Pipparello vineyard in Montefalco, Umbria, the vines are at least 20 years old and thrive in clay and gravel soils. After an extended maceration of 40-50 days, the wine spends a year in stainless steel tanks, followed by two years in large oak barrels, and another year aging in the bottle before release. This full-bodied wine boasts powerful yet finessed tannins, with lively acidity that keeps it lifted on the palate. Aromas of cherries, blackberry, and plum are complemented by savory herbs, leather, and tobacco, all harmonizing in an extended finish. Organically grown, low-intervention, natural wine, vegan.
