RETAIL WINE BUYER / SALESPERSON: FULL-TIME

Artisan Wine Shop is seeking a full-time buyer/salesperson to curate our specialized selection of wine, spirits, sake, and cider; and provide excellent customer service. This is a great opportunity for an experienced, dedicated wine and spirits professional to work in a congenial environment, with terrific colleagues and customers. We focus on small producers, and have a wide selection of natural, organic, biodynamic wines. Candidates will have experience and expertise in all wine regions and styles, from classic collectibles to the latest in wine trends.

Responsibilities:
- be hospitality-minded, welcoming and helpful when assisting customers
- be in charge of all purchasing, receiving, and inventory maintenance
- meet with reps; taste and evaluate wines, spirits, ciders, sakes
- maintain and develop client relationships through proactive communications
- manage/execute website maintenance: product photos, descriptions, technical info
- manage/execute weekly e-newsletter
- manage/execute in-store product signage
- train and mentor colleagues re: wine knowledge and new products
- manage/execute social media postings
- manage stocking, a hands-on team effort
- help maintain store cleanliness and orderliness
- work with owners to generate growth strategies (sales, reputation, customer base, anticipating customer needs)

Qualifications:
- have extensive wine (and food) knowledge and interest, with expertise in all wine regions and styles, from classic collectibles to the latest in wine trends
- have a genuine interest in people, and in helping customers find what they’re looking for
- have 2+ years’ experience in a similar role: restaurant or retail wine buying, with expertise and experience in all wine regions and styles, from classic collectibles to the latest in wine trends
- be a strong taster who can evaluate quality, value, market opportunities, well-rounded product mix
- have a genuine interest in fostering a positive work environment with respectful, personable, open communication, and enthusiasm for the store’s selections
- be able to research, write and proofread
- computer proficiency: able to learn POS system, proficient with word processing docs and spreadsheets a must; proficient with design software including Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus
- be able to regularly lift and move 40+-pound cases
- be able to work Tuesday-Saturday with a set schedule, although shifts vary depending on the day and week; work at minimum 40 hours per week, occasionally fill in partial shifts if necessary

Salary range:
$52,000 - $68,000 depending on experience
