An incredibly fun wine from an innovative Chilean winemaker. Juan José Ledesma has been making music and wine in the southern region of Itata for over two decades. Combining his two passions, he will sometimes practice “battonage with vibrations” - a process where he will submerge a speaker into the barrel with the notion that the vibrations aid in harmonizing the wine. While this particular wine may not have boogied to any tunes during its production, it is a must try for beer drinkers looking to branch over to wine. With only 24 hours of skin contact before pressing, this wine is fermented dry and spends 2 months on its lees before being topped off with grape must and bottled. The addition of the grape must sparks a second fermentation in the bottle. The end result is a wine that is sparkling, tart and tangy with sour cherry notes, and a profile akin to a sour beer or a piquette. As it says on the label: “Like a beer, only not a beer… it’s El Impostor.” Organically grown.
