Amélie and Charles Sparr both come from Alsatian winegrowing families and now own 18 hectares of vines in the center of southern Alsace, including eight hectares of Grand Cru. The Sparr family has been in Alsace since 1634 - making Charles the 12th generation! - while Amélie’s family owns Vignobles des Deux Lunes, an estate which has been an early adopter of organic (1997) and biodynamic (2003) viticulture. Amélie and Charles’ eponymous winery is located in Wettolsheim, south of Colmar, and is completely biodynamic (Demeter certified in 2019). Deeply rooted in tradition (as one would expect!), Amélie and Charles are also daring innovators, unafraid to reimagine what Alsatian wine can be. This pinot blanc is a wonderful example of the passion, precision, and energy they put into their wines. Fruit from a gravel plot in Sigolshein is hand harvested and aged in stainless steel tanks, and displays generous aromas of pear and melon with a hint of mint. On the palate it is round and silky in texture, with a core of succulent fruit supported by an elegant structure and a vivacious acidity that turns every sip into a refreshing journey! Certified organic, certified biodynamic, low-intervention/natural wine.
