Stefan Vetter has developed a kind of cult following; for his careful work in his terraced vineyards above the Main river, for his biodynamic farming methods, and for the depth of flavor that results in the wines and ciders he produces. When it comes to wines, he is known for a singular focus on the white wine grape sylvaner: the aromatic interest of Vetter’s sylvaners has brought renewed attention to the winemaking possibilities of the Franconian region. Along with sylvaner, Vetter also produces a line of stunning, unique ciders. His apple cider is made from a blend of old, heirloom Franconian apple varieties including Goldrette, Blenheim, Winterrambur, Goldparmäne, and Bohnapfel, using the ancestral method. True to Stefan’s direct, refreshing style, this elegant cider is bone dry, tart, and textured, with refined notes of apple, mineral, and earth carried over fine bubbles evocative of sparkling wine.
