Domaine Vieux Télégraphe was founded in 1895 by Hippolyte Brunier, and the domaine has become one of the most renowned in the Southern Rhône. The soil is classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape: large round stones (galets roulés) in a layer of deep sandy limestone on top of red clay. The berries all come from the legendary vineyard, Le Crau. Younger vines averaging 35 years old produce the grapes for the domaine’s second label, “Télégramme,” composed of 80% grenache, 10% syrah, 6% mourvèdre, and 4% cinsault, which rests for 10 months in cement tanks and then another 7 in French oak foudres. The elegance and velvety texture make it easy to appreciate in its youth, with rich, generous, red fruit, uncharacteristic freshness, and beautifully integrated tannins. Sustainably grown.
