Create an accountThe Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in lower Manhattan boasts the largest collection of Irish whiskey in North America, so it was fitting that it would eventually have its very own whiskey. This 5 year old Irish whiskey was distilled at The Dublin Libraries in collaboration between master distiller Darryl McNally and the founders of The Dead Rabbit (named after the Irish immigrant gangs of 1850s New York, as immortalized in the Martin Scorsese film, “Gangs of New York.”) A blend of malt and grain whiskeys, this is matured in ex-bourbon barrels before being finished in “half-sized” virgin American oak barrels for extra spiciness. A nose of caramelized brown sugar, cedar, and apricot tarts leads into flavors of caramel and vanilla in the mouth accented with notes of nutmeg, cafe au lait, and toasted nuts before wrapping up with waxy fruit tones and a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish.
