Inspired by a series of short children’s stories centered around growing up in South Africa, “Wanderer’s Heart” is a complex blend of Syrah, Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, and Carignan. While a blend of this composition typically hails from the Rhone Valley, these grapes are found to be thriving in the Western Cape of South Africa, showcasing the diversity this region has to offer. The winemaker is careful to pick so as to preserve acidity and freshness. Around 60% of the grapes are fermented as whole clusters in an open vat, and the wine ages for 9 months in used oak barrels. Sulfur use is minimized throughout the wine making and maturation processes. Focused yet supple, this wine boasts aromas of black pepper, mulberries, black olive, and cedar accompanied by fresh cranberries and wood spices on the palate. Organically grown, low-intervention/natural wine.
