What Vincent Ledy has achieved is all the more impressive given that Burgundy aficionados didn’t already know the name Ledy before he founded his winery in 2007. Having well-established Nuits-Saint-Georges producer Alain Michelot as an uncle helped him get started in the area, but Vincent has forged his own path and established his own style of winemaking. Farming 3.5 hectares in select plots around the area, he focuses on the quality of his fruit without the aid of unnecessary intervention in the vineyard or the winery. He prefers traditional farming practices, including plowing the oldest vines with a horse, so achieving organic certification was not a stretch. In the cellar, he ferments whole cluster with indigenous yeasts, adding (minimal) sulfur only at bottling. All of his wines age for 18 months in used oak barrels. This cuvée comes from two vineyard sites in Savigny-lès-Beaune: Les Connardises (2/3), planted in 1939, and Les Petits Liards (1/3), planted in 1954. Energetic and vibrant, this is exciting Burgundy that gets your attention with its bright red fruit and distinct earthiness. Certified organic, low-intervention/natural wine.
