Located practically in our own backyard, Whitecliff Vineyard in Gardiner, NY has been producing a highly respected and diverse portfolio of fine wines. Founded in 1979 by husband-and-wife team Michael Migliore and Yancey Stanforth-Migliore with the intention to push the envelope for New York State winemaking and grape growing practices, Whitecliff Vineyard continues to experiment with a focus on quality and refinement. Michael has lived on the property since 1975, and both of his grandfathers, one Italian and one German, both made wine in their home and it was a part of every holiday dinner. He studied organic chemistry at SUNY New Paltz and worked for IBM as a chemical engineer, and soon after began experimenting with grape growing as it piqued his chemistry interest. They now have one of the largest vineyards in the Hudson Valley, with over 20 varietals planted and a passion to always improve and refine. Their gamay is quite light in style. It has tasty tart red fruit, highlighting raspberry and cherry, with very fine tannins and a dry finish. Sustainably grown, vegan.
